Nafplio. Peloponnese. Greece. View of the 15th century small island Venetian fortress known as Bourtzi in the harbour of Nafplio. It was built to defend against maritime intruders. One of the most attractive towns in Greece, Nafplio is a maze of medieval narrow paved streets, a delightful harbor lined with palm trees and imposing 15th century fortresses. From 1829 to 1334, the town was the first capital of liberated Greece.
