Crowning its summit of the Acropolis is the magnificent landmark and icon Parthenon Temple, dedicated to the goddess Athena and remaining to the present day witness to the glorious Greek classical civilisation. The Parthenon, the Propylaia - the monumental entrance to the Acropolis, the exquisite temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion and its famous Caryatid porch were all erected between 447 and 406 BC, during monumental rebuilding and transformation of the Acropolis during the time of Perikles.
