The most famous and popular sight in Umbria is the medieval town Assisi which was the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi. Enchanting with its winding medieval streets, Assisi has at least 7 churches worth seeing with the 13th-century Basilica di San Francesco, being the absolute highlight with its beautiful and stunning frescoes. Great views of the Umbrian valley are on offer here as well.
